Merbau Enclosure
Bentleigh East — Merbau, vertical boards
Boundary fences, slat fences, screens and front fences across Bentleigh East, built to Glen Eira's fence rules. Jake measures on site and sends the quote that night.

A lot of Bentleigh East blocks are being rebuilt as townhouses and units. That usually means new boundary fences, often between neighbours who've only just met, and new front fences to suit the new house.
Where a fence is shared, it pays to agree on the style, height and cost split in writing before anything starts. Jake's line-itemised quote makes that conversation easier: both neighbours can see exactly what they're paying for.
Smaller blocks and closer neighbours mean more call for privacy screens and slat fences. Glen Eira counts screens as fencing, so the same height rules apply.
From the Glen Eira City Council fencing page, checked 2 October 2026. Rules change, and covenants or overlays on your title can add more, so check with council before you build.
The fence rules above apply across all 15 suburbs in Glen Eira. Jake quotes in any of them.
Suburb list from the gazetted locality list for Glen Eira. Some suburbs sit across two councils, so check your rates notice if you are near a boundary.
Under Glen Eira's rules, a timber or steel front fence over 1.5 m needs a building permit, and a brick, stone or masonry one over 1.2 m. On a corner, fences within 9 m of the intersection are limited to 1 m.
Council pays half for a standard 1.9 m timber paling fence next to its parks, reserves and buildings. Extras like lattice, extra height or a gate are on you. It doesn't contribute next to laneways, walkways or road reserves.
Send through the details and Jake will get back to you, usually the same day. He'll book a site visit, measure up and send a line-itemised quote that night.
