Decking

Hardwood decks, framed level and finished square.

Decks off the back of the house and around the pool, across Melbourne's south east and the Mornington Peninsula. Built by the same crew that does our fencing.

The frame is the deck

Boards get the attention, but the frame decides how a deck holds up. Footings set at the right depth, bearers and joists level and spaced correctly, and enough airflow underneath to keep the timber dry. Get that right and the boards stay flat.

On top, we keep board gaps even, ends cut clean, and edges finished square. Where a deck meets a pool, a step or a fence, the junction is planned before the first board goes down.

Materials

Merbau
The most common hardwood decking in Melbourne. Rich reddish-brown, stable and durable.
Spotted gum
Australian hardwood with a lighter, varied grain. Very hard and good in bushfire-prone areas.

Decks and fences together

If the job needs a new fence, a screen or a pool enclosure as well, one crew can do all of it. The levels, materials and finishes line up, and you deal with one person from quote to finish.

How It Works

From site visit to finished fence.

01

Jake visits the site

A 20-minute site visit. Jake looks at the layout, talks through what you need, and takes measurements on the spot.

02

You get a quote that night

A clear, line-itemised quote — materials, labour, timeline. No surprises, no follow-up calls to "finalise pricing."

03

Same crew builds it

The hands that quoted are the hands that build. No subcontractors, no hand-offs. Jake and the crew, start to finish.

FAQ

Common questions

How much does a hardwood deck cost?

It depends on size, height off the ground, timber, stairs and balustrades. Jake measures on site and sends a line-itemised quote the same night.

Do I need a permit for a deck?

Higher decks generally need a building permit in Victoria. Jake can tell you on the site visit whether yours is likely to need one.

How do I look after a hardwood deck?

Clean it and re-oil it every so often to keep the colour. Left unoiled, hardwood weathers to a silver-grey.
