Feature fences and screens

Slat fences, screens and feature fences in hardwood and steel.

For the front of the house, the courtyard or the side that needs privacy. Built from an architect's drawing or worked out with you on site, by the same crew that does our boundary work.

When a standard fence won't do

Some fences are part of the house. A slat fence across the front, a screen that hides the bins or the neighbour's window, a feature wall next to the pool. These jobs are less forgiving. Every slat is on show, so every gap and every line has to be right.

We build feature work with the same crew and the same standard as our boundary fences. No hand-off to a different team.

Materials

Merbau
Dense, reddish-brown hardwood. Stable and weather resistant. Oiled to keep its colour or left to weather to silver.
Spotted gum
Australian hardwood with a lighter, varied grain. Hard-wearing and durable outdoors.
Steel posts and frames
Powder-coated steel posts or frames with timber infill. Slimmer posts and a crisp, modern line.
Brush and mixed infill
Brush panels set in a timber frame for a softer, natural screen.

Common jobs

Horizontal slat fences
Front and side boundaries with an even, consistent gap.
Privacy screens
Freestanding or fixed screens for courtyards, decks and side paths.
Bin and services enclosures
Screens with a gate to hide bins, tanks and equipment.
Architect-specified work
Built to drawings, with the builder or landscaper on the same site.

FAQ

Common questions

How much does a slat fence or screen cost?

It depends on the timber, the frame, the slat size and spacing, and the length. Hardwood and steel cost more than treated pine. Jake measures on site and sends a line-itemised quote the same night.

Can you build from an architect's or landscaper's plans?

Yes. We work from drawings and with the builder or landscaper on site.

Will hardwood slats change colour?

Yes. Untreated hardwood weathers to silver-grey over time. Oiling keeps the original colour but needs redoing every so often.

Where We Work
